Day of Valor
During the Battle of Bataan, the Filipino and American soldiers had to face many challenges. They didn't have as many soldiers as the Japanese. They also didn't have enough guns, bullets, or food. But they still fought bravely. They protected their country and their people as best as they could. After the battle, many of them were captured by the Japanese. They had to go through something terrible called the Bataan Death March. It was a long, hard journey where they were forced to walk for many miles without enough food or water. Many soldiers got sick, and many died along the way. It was a very sad time for the Philippines. But even in those difficult times, the soldiers showed great bravery and strength.
Araw ng Kagitingan is not just about remembering the past. It's also about being thankful. We're thankful for the sacrifices of those soldiers. Because of them, we have the freedom we enjoy today. This special day reminds us to appreciate our freedom and to be proud of our country. It teaches us to be courageous and united, just like the soldiers were. By honoring them, we show that we won't forget their bravery. We promise to keep their memory alive and to continue valuing freedom, peace, and unity in our country.
